Her Name Is BB.
And it was meant to be. I'm not sure why, but I have been riding in, driving in, working on (with regularity as demanded by the technology and also with guidance and help from my father and brother (and patience from my mother!) (engineers are allowed to use multiple nested parentheses!)), or dreaming about an MGB since I was (literally, not figuratively) one year old!
Now, I'm more than well aware that a 51 year old dude can look weird in a sports car, especially when the first three characters of the license plate are HEF! But it's only at this age that most of us can afford one! Also, many may not know the history.

I'm pretty sure that that page features all three of the Hemphill boy's handwriting! That's the log book from the '74 B that we owned and that my brother and I drove for years. After the 103,000 mile mark, I started a project to restore the '74 but never finished. I still have an organizer full of nuts and bolts from the project. In fact, some of those fasteners are holding on BB's license plates.
This MG closely resembles the one I rode on the back bench of (which would earn a jail term for child endangerment today!) Many thanks to Jack Hubbell and his brother for keeping her in a condition well above her years!
Now to the name: BB refers first to Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang, Ian Fleming's (yes, of Bond fame...) car, brought to life by Mr. Caractacus Potts. The second reference is to the '74 B, which we, affectionately called Beabeah, after my brother's childhood blanket. As a third reference, it never hurts to have Mr. B. B. King on your side!
Long may she roll!
All 3 of the Hemphill boys?? What about your son?
