Parts Arrive for the Winter Work!

Winter - a long, cold time to hibernate and recuperate for spring.  Believe it or not, an MG is a warrior in winter.  My Dad proved that by commuting from Painesville to Euclid in our '74 for several years.  Having driven BB on some 50F mornings, I have new respect for his toughness!  I still haven't remembered how the vents and heater work but I'll figure it out soon.

This winter, BB is getting some new parts and some repairs to the suspension.  Thank goodness for Moss Motors and their suppliers!

There are several goals for this work:
  1. Replace the cracked tie rod and rack and pinion bellows.
  2. Replace the original (and likely soft) rubber bushings with polyurethane.
  3. Replace the original coil springs with lowered and higher rate springs (BB is still several inches above pavement and really not low enough!).
  4. Add a roll bar.  I'm still stunned that she didn't have one as original.
  5. Upgrade the brakes with slotted rotors and semi-metallic pads.  We did some testing of slotted clutch plates early in my manual clutch career and found some advantage.  It's not earth shattering but every little bit helps at the autocross!
  6. Lower the rear suspension by one inch.  That may not be enough but we'll see how she handles!
  7. Repair the passenger side mirror which somehow fell off on one of our maiden voyage.
That should make for an entertaining Spring!
