Summer at the races...
Mother Nature was grumpy in Ohio this summer. I believe I have never mowed the lawn more often than this summer because it was constantly raining and hot. It was greenhouse for the lawn! Good exercise but no fun for auto crossing a convertible. However, I did make my three race minimum. And there is some evidence that the Winter upgrades paid off. Disclaimer: I'm pretty sure the 15 year old tires are acting as a fuse, especially at the Wickliffe auto cross where temperatures hovered in the 30's all day!
Here is the (somewhat) scientific evidence: These are both traction limited turns in my memory (which some challenge...not without cause!). Here we clearly see a near 60% reduction in body roll. Quite impressive, but with the addition of an anti-sway bar, stiffer springs, and a 1" reduction in ride height, great things were to be expected! I think the right, rear wheel was nearly off the ground in the first picture!
And now, I will express a small doubt that I have formed...I wonder if BB is a '67? She had ready bolt holes for a roll bar that was not fitted and three point seat belt mounts, which weren't standard until at least '68. In any case, she rolls!
And here, the traditional victory (for those who are alone in their class!) beer. And, more importantly, the "knock-off" wrench my Dad and I made. I'm aware that one should use a brass hammer on these but my kid bought the new one's and that ain't goin' down! So we have a cherry wrench, which the guys at Parrish-McIntyre said was a first for them (after doing the alignment and tire balancing).
This is a new way to say, we should do the things that bring us together, because what do we have that's better than each other?
